Where are Thai eateries in the center of Pattaya. Where to eat in Pattaya: cafes and restaurants. Prices in Pattaya restaurants

One of the most common questions asked by tourists in the main tourist center of Thailand: "Where to eat tasty and inexpensive in Pattaya?" The "all inclusive" system is not widespread in Thailand, so the absence of a buffet full of various dishes for every taste is alarming for many.

Thai cuisine is considered one of the healthiest in the world - only fresh products are used, and the large amount of spices and high speed of cooking prevents the development of unwanted microorganisms for digestion.

For a European who comes to the country for the first time, the sharpness of the dishes served may come as a surprise - Thais put a chili pepper in each dish, sometimes several at once. In such cases, guides and guidebooks recommend using the expressions "know chili", "know spicy" (English) or "may prik" (Thai) when ordering dishes in a restaurant, cafe or on the street. "not spicy".

Food in Pattaya is found at every turn, especially in the tourist areas. Here are some answers to the question "Where to eat inexpensively in Pattaya?":

  • food in hotels;
  • buying food in the store;
  • food in the food courts of large shopping centers;
  • street food;
  • cafes and restaurants.

Food in hotels

Tourists staying in hotels are provided with a good breakfast - depending on the cost of living, the breakfast buffet offers at least several different dishes, for example: scrambled eggs, sausages, potatoes, bacon, rice, soup, noodles, vegetables, fruits, etc., and also tea, coffee, muesli, milk, toast bread, butter, cheese, jams.

Breakfast even in an inexpensive hotel will not leave you hungry - you can eat anything and in any quantity. You can also have lunch and dinner in the hotel restaurant, but you will have to pay extra for this. This is not always profitable, because in Pattaya there are a huge number of places where you can eat very tasty, varied and very inexpensive.

Buying food in the store

For an inexpensive meal in Pattaya, you can look into one of the huge number of small shops of the famous retail chains "Family Mart" and "7-Eleven" (7/11), found literally at every step. Buying groceries here is the most economical option.

They work around the clock, therefore, at any time here you can find various sets of packaged, ready-made frozen and hot dishes from the series "noodles / rice + scrambled eggs / meat / vegetables", "spaghetti + sauce", etc., sandwiches, sausages, yoghurts , a huge number of drinks, cheap energy drinks, hot tea and coffee. Ready-to-eat food will be defrosted and reheated for you right on the spot.

Frozen food prices at Family Mart and 7-Eleven Pattaya start at 25 baht per serving.

In large supermarkets such as BigC or Tesco Lotus, the range of provisions is huge. In addition to ready-made food (for example, breakfast - a fried egg with rice costs 15 baht, a serving of soup or curry - 20 baht), you can buy interesting sets for making soups and other dishes. Raw fish, meat or seafood can be cleaned and cooked in the same place. Self-service food sets cost about 100 baht.

Eating in food courts of large shopping centers

You can eat tasty, varied and fairly inexpensive food in Pattaya at the food courts of large shopping centers such as Central Festival, Tesco Lotus, BigC. Such departments usually occupy a large share of the floor and resemble a cluster of several self-service restaurants, while each restaurant specializes in a particular cuisine: European, Thai, Japanese, Chinese, other Asian, Russian and others.

Chili pepper

The payment system in Thai food courts is as follows: you need to deposit the amount of money that you plan to spend on food at the cashier at the entrance to the institution, in exchange you will be given a food court card. With this card, you will pay the restaurant chef directly when ordering a dish. Later, you can return to the checkout and take the rest of the money on the card, or, conversely, top up your account if you want to buy something else.

Food court prices start at 50 baht per dish.

Street food in Pattaya

In Thailand, it is not customary to cook at home, most of Thais' apartments are not equipped with a kitchen at all, so local residents eat on the street, snacking in street canteens or buying food from makashniki (these are mobile mini-kitchens).

In Pattaya, there are a huge number of different kinds of makings where you can buy shrimp, fish, and other seafood, kebabs, sausages, pancakes, noodles, soup, rice, chicken, desserts, all kinds of fruits and vegetables. Often the seller will prepare a dish right in front of you in just 5-7 minutes. Strive to eat inexpensively in Pattaya - go to the makashnits.

The makers have the lowest food prices in Pattaya - most dishes cost between 15 and 40 baht, for example:

About restaurants

Inexpensive food in Pattaya restaurants will most likely fail. Although it depends on what to compare - if with restaurants in Europe, then of course in Thailand it is cheaper and at times. In tourist areas, you can visit Russian restaurants with a Russian menu, where you can order the usual borsch, dumplings, okroshka, pancakes, herring under a fur coat and other dishes of Russian cuisine. The prices are quite high, for example, a portion of dumplings can cost 250 baht. Russian cuisine in Thailand is not in demand among foreigners, and only Russian tourists eat here. The most famous Russian restaurants in Pattaya are Matryoshka, 8 Horseshoes, At Zakharovna's, Rasputin.

Italian restaurants are more popular, fun and crowded. Pizza, pasta, pasta, lasagna have long gained popularity all over the world. The most popular are Rossini and La Gritta.

German restaurants are more popular in the northern part of Pattaya. Here you can often see German names of dishes on signs in establishments. The most popular German restaurants are Zeppelin and Brewery House Pattaya.

Japanese cuisine is incredibly popular in Pattaya, sushi and rolls are prepared by Thais themselves, you can buy them on almost every corner. The magnificent Japanese establishments Fuji and Zen are located in major shopping malls. The average bill is 1,000 baht for two people.

Indian restaurants in Pattaya can be found in abundance in the area of Second Street and Walking Street, the prices are very reasonable. The most famous establishments are Maharani, Ali Baba, Raj Indian.

So, there are quite a lot of food options in Pattaya and no one will be hungry for sure, you should try different food options, but be sure to - local food in authentic establishments.

Today we want to tell you about food in thailand, namely, where you can eat tasty and inexpensively and where the Thais themselves eat. In Pattaya, almost all the main streets are simply dotted with various cafes and restaurants designed to serve an endless flow of tourists. But this is not our option. We will live here for a long time, so we need to eat so that food does not become our main source of expenses.

In the two weeks that we are here, we have more or less understood what and where the Thais themselves eat and how we need to eat ourselves. So, here is a list of the main places where we get our food:

  • Cheap street taverns;
  • Makashnitsa;
  • Food courts in large shopping centers;
  • Food markets;
  • Food at Tesco Lotus;
  • Food at 7-Eleven;
  • European food shops.

And now about everything in order.

Street food in Pattaya

Most Thais do not prepare their own food at home, but only eat outside. We also decided that there was no particular point in self-cooking - no, it’s not even economically profitable. Therefore, now we only make breakfasts ourselves, and have lunch and dinner in various cafes.

To find a cheap Thai tavern, you need to turn off the big tourist street somewhere into an alley, or move perpendicular to the beach inland Pattaya. As a rule, there are always very few people in such establishments, and there are practically no tourists at all. Either the Thais themselves or local Europeans are sitting here. The main drawback of such establishments is either the complete absence of a menu, or the absence of its translation into some familiar language. Typically, the menu consists of 4-6 dishes: a couple of soups, rice with chicken / duck / pork / seafood, noodles with chicken / duck / pork / seafood. Prices for all meals are 40-50 baht. But in each tavern, everything is cooked in different ways and according to different recipes, so there are a lot of food options.

Even in such cafes we have translation difficulties when ordering food. For example, 20 meters from our condominium there is a tavern, in which I have already tried to eat soup twice, but so far apparently not destiny. Every time we pass by, lovely Thais cheerfully shout to us in Russian "Noodle soup". And every time I am tempted by soup and say to them in my perfect english: "Noodle soup for me and rice with chicken for my wife", they persistently bring us two rice with chicken. They probably translate my phrase: "and rice with chicken for my wife" as "I was joking about the soup, bring two rice." But the fact that the soup is there, I know for sure. I personally saw a Japanese man there with a large bowl of delicious soup. He couldn't have brought it with him. In general, I already understood my tactical mistake and not a word more about chicken and rice.

Well, the main advantages of such establishments are the highest quality of food, low prices and home-like cozy atmosphere. These cafes are focused on regular visitors, so you will never be served spoiled food here. And they serve as if they opened their tavern only for you.

By the way, we took most of the food photos from the "Food in Thailand" section in such cafes.

Makashnitsa

In Thailand, there is a huge number of different kinds of makings, where you can buy food for every taste (makings are mobile mini kitchens). There are kebabs, and sausages, and pancakes, and noodles, and all kinds of seafood, and a bunch of other tasty and not very tasty things.

Active trade with makashnits begins in the evening, hours from 19. The Thais themselves are very fond of buying food in such kitchens, well, we also keep up. When you eat fruit all day, in the evening you are no longer able to absorb a large portion of food in a Thai tavern. Therefore, having consumed a couple of shish kebabs from sea reptiles, you feel cheerful and confident.

About the makers at the night market in Pattaya.

Here are some prices for food in Pattaya makers:

  • Cuttlefish shashlik - 30-50 baht;

Food courts in large shopping centers

Also in Pattaya, you can eat tasty and inexpensive food at food courts in large shopping centers such as Tesco Lotus, BigC, Central Festival. Food prices here start at 30 baht per dish. In addition to Asian cuisines, various European cuisines, including Russian, are also represented here.

Food Markets

Fruits and vegetables in Pattaya are most profitable to buy in large grocery markets.

  • Watermelon - 60 baht apiece.

In general, for 100 baht, you can fill the refrigerator with fruit to capacity. At first, we did so, but now we are buying a little fruit, since we do not have time to eat them.

Food inTescoLotus

Back in the Tesco Lotus shopping center, we found very interesting sets for making various soups and salads. Thais and Japanese are very active in buying them. Prices start at 25 baht per set. Yesterday we bought one such set, let's try to make Tom-Yam soup.

Food at 7Eleven

In addition, in Pattaya, you can eat very cheaply at 7-Eleven stores. They sell frozen, ready-to-eat food that will be defrosted and reheated right on the spot for you. We ourselves have not tried this product, but Thais often use these semi-finished products. They even seem to like it. At least, I have not seen disgust on their faces while absorbing this product. Frozen food prices at 7-Eleven stores in Pattaya start at 25 baht per serving.

European food shops in Pattaya

And finally, for those who are not tempted by Thai food, there are European food shops in Pattaya. Here you can find such products familiar to a Russian person as dumplings, dumplings, cutlets, black bread, kefir, fermented baked milk, etc. But the prices for them are also much higher than for products made in Thailand:

  • Small loaf of black bread - 90 baht;
  • Manty - 250 baht per 0.5 kg.
  • Dumplings with cabbage - 176 baht per 0.5 kg
  • Kefir - 60 baht per 0.5 l
  • Ryazhenka - 70 baht per 0.5 l

We have not yet fully understood how we will eat for the next 6 months. While we are actively trying everything, we eat on the street, we cook something ourselves. In any case, in Thailand there is a huge selection of all kinds of food for every taste and we will definitely not stay hungry here.

For more useful information about moving to Thailand for permanent residence, read the post "

The advantage of this spa town is that to eat here can be everywhere and at any time of the day. Kitchen restaurants and other catering establishments in Pattaya amazes with its diversity... Beyond the traditional thai food, you can taste the cuisine of almost all countries of the world, from French to Japanese.

Food on the streets

Very popular in Pattaya is food on the streets... Its cost goes out significantly cheaper than preparing your own lunch or dinner. Street cafes serving traditional food are usually located in the lanes, away from beaches and busy streets. The menu is not very diverse, however, street food is the cheapest and easiest way to try tasty and fresh local food. The price of one dish in such an establishment usually does not exceed 50 baht.

No less popular than cafes are makashnits- street food stalls. It is unlikely that the makashnitsa will succeed in a full-fledged lunch, but for a snack chicken or seafood- easily. Freshly prepared sushi and rolls are also sold at very low prices. The prices for food in makashnitsa are also very democratic - fried seafood will cost about 30-40 baht per serving. A piece of chicken will have about the same price. It will not be difficult to find makashniki in the city, they are located at almost every step... However, they begin to work actively in the late afternoon.

Food on the street and in the makashnitsa is worth trying at least once. It's worth it. It is recommended to pay special attention to seafood- their variety is amazing. You don't have to worry about the quality of food on the street - preparing she just before use from fresh products.

If you prefer more familiar food, grocery stores are the best option. markets and markets, where you can independently choose a menu for every day. Food markets are rich vegetables and fruits... This is the best place to buy them. Tentatively, cucumbers and tomatoes are worth the order. 30 baht per kg. Such as bananas and pineapples are even cheaper - 20-25 baht per kg... In general, do not waste the opportunity - fruits can be enjoyed in any quantity, their cost contributes to this.

As for grocery markets, you can buy here frozen convenience foods Thai cuisine or more familiar European products. However, European food is more expensive. For example, the price of a loaf of bread will be about 100 baht.

There are no less restaurants in Pattaya than street cafes. It is not easy to navigate in them right away, so we will consider the most popular and available ones:

1. Thai house- popular restaurant traditional thai food located in North Pattaya. The restaurant's interior is also designed in Thai style, which allows you to feel the atmosphere of the area. Dishes from seafood... The average cost of a dinner at a Thai House is around 500 baht... The restaurant is open from 11:30 to 23:30.

Quite cheap and fun to eat at night markets in Pattaya. There are many cafes with Russian dishes (okroshka, dumplings, borsch, cabbage rolls). Prices 50-70 baht per serving... Most often we took tom yam soup ( 40 baht) and rolls ( 5 baht per piece). To represent the cost of food in rubles, simply multiply the price tag in half.

Food in restaurants and cafes in Pattaya

  • Big C or Tesco supermarkets have food trays... This is a very cheap food option. For example, the cost of breakfast (fried egg with rice) - 15 baht... A serving of soup or curry - 20 baht.
  • At Tesco, pay attention to yellow price tags... These are foods that are nearing the end of their shelf life and need to be eaten as soon as possible.
  • Fruits such as bananas, watermelons, pineapples and durians worth buying on the side of streets and highways. Sometimes you can find pick-ups selling directly from the body of a mango at 3 kg for 100 baht. It is profitable and safe - take it!

"Where to eat in Pattaya?" Is one of the main questions that tourists in Thailand ask themselves. I'm talking about cafes in Pattaya, restaurants in Pattaya and others, so that you definitely do not starve to death, and also get tremendous pleasure.

When planning a vacation in an exotic country, first of all, you think about a long flight, and secondly - about food. The lack of a buffet full of various dishes for every taste, according to the “All Inclusive” system so beloved by our tourists, leads many to a dead end. How to organize your "breakfast, lunch, dinner" in a foreign country, where to eat inexpensively in Pattaya?

Thai cuisine is considered one of the healthiest in the world. And how else - only fresh products are taken for cooking, and the speed of cooking (in front of your eyes) in a cafe in Pattaya and their sharpness prevents the development of any unwanted microorganisms. But, despite these advantages, you need to be prepared when visiting restaurants in Pattaya that the stomachs of most Europeans are not accustomed to such radically spicy food and often refuse to accept the delights of Thai cuisine in the "original performance".

But on the other hand, food in Pattaya is almost at every turn, especially in the center. It all depends on your budget.

Where to eat in Pattaya inexpensively

The most economical option is groceries in supermarkets, which are abundant. They can be bought in small shops of common retail chains such as Family Mart, Friendship Supermarket, (7/11). These small shops are always packed full of different products - both packaged and ready-made hot. Prices for food in Pattaya are comparable to Russian prices, sometimes a little cheaper.

If there is no desire to devote time to grocery shopping in search of food, in Pattaya, as in other resort places, you can safely eat local food - in street establishments in Pattaya, or even from stalls (makashnits), which are innumerable here. In Pattaya, food on the street is everywhere and for every taste. You can always eat pretty quickly on the go - kebabs, sandwiches, fruits and insects. And more complex dishes are prepared right there. But if in modern canteens and restaurants Europeans can meet halfway and reduce the "dose of thrill", then in the street version even an ordinary-looking scrambled egg may turn out to be such that you can only swallow the first bite.

Second option, where to eat in Pattaya - street food, the cheapest option for a tourist who is not burdened with funds. Paying only 50-100 baht on the street, you can fill up the whole day.

If the first two options do not work in any way and are not the ideal place for you to eat in Pattaya , and you treat the issue more thoroughly, then try to eat in public or canteens. They are in every more or less large supermarket or shopping center (like Central Festival) and are called "food court". The food in the food courts is varied, high quality and tasty. You can have a good and tasty lunch in public canteens and cafes in Pattaya for 100-130 baht. You can read about food courts in the shopping malls "Mike" and "Festival" in the article.

And of course, you can completely diversify your menu and try food in different restaurants in Pattaya every time. We have prepared for you a small selection of establishments in Pattaya for every taste and budget.

Coffeemania Pattaya

Pattaya Coffeemania is very cozy and popular with coffee connoisseurs. It is located in the Northern part of Pattaya on Naklua Street. It's cramped inside, only three tables with wicker chairs. Most guests sit on the outdoor terrace under the umbrellas or take their coffee with them. Nevertheless, the pleasant atmosphere is conducive to long gatherings. Plank walls and wooden window frames make you feel like you are in a fairytale hut. There are many interesting details - old clocks, still lifes on the walls, photographs and business cards of visitors. Soft lighting works at any time of the day.

It offers about 40 types of delicious coffee and drinks at affordable prices. We recommend trying the coconut latte (70 baht) and the caramel frappe (75 baht). For those with a sweet tooth, there are tiramisu and cheesecakes (90-95 baht). For a full meal, it's best to order a ham, salmon or tuna sandwich (95-150 baht), or a salad (100-150 baht).
