    The birthplace of the drink cannot be definitively named, some facts speak of Australian origin, while others speak of French. The name comes from French and translates as "frozen" or "chilled", "icy". For appetizing and showiness, the drink is served in transparent tall glasses with seductive cherry on top of the ice cream mountain. There are many recipes for making coffee, and each country prepares it differently.

    An Australian legend tells of the accidental origin of the product recipe. Once a skilled barista, afraid of losing a regular customer, instead of milk added ice cream to the espresso, the guest liked the drink so much that he began to order it constantly. Since then, the drink has been very popular all over the world, especially on hot summer days.

    Many are puzzled over how to speak correctly: glace or glace. Right and so and so.

    Difference from latte and calorie content

    Outwardly, the drinks are very similar, and they can be confused, but in fact there is a difference, and a significant one. Both cocktails are based on a double espresso, but the latte includes the addition of whipped milk with sugar, and look - ice cream.

    Professional baristas often create real works of art from a traditional drink by introducing new ingredients into the composition:

    • Cinnamon.
    • Whipped cream.
    • Sambuca.
    • Liquor.
    • Egg yolk.
    • Grated chocolate.
    • syrups.
    • Fruits - bananas, lemon peel.
    • Coconut flakes, confectionery sprinkles and sugar decorations.
    • Various spices and other ingredients that make the cocktail divinely delicious.

    Pay attention to the volume of the cup and the percentage of additional components. As a standard, the composition of the cocktail should contain 25% of ice cream by weight. If you are on a diet, when ordering a cocktail, specify what coffee is made from and what additional components it includes.

    Glasse is one of those coffee drinks that originated off the cuff somewhere in Austria and today has many variations. This is a favorite summer option that cools, invigorates and nourishes vitality.

    Description of the drink

    The exact place and person who first began to combine two completely different products in one drink is unknown. It is generally accepted that the glasse coffee recipe appeared in Austria, where it still remains one of the favorite drinks of the country's population.

    Although, strictly speaking, the question of who actually invented the glass remains open to this day. There is a legend according to which a certain young Austrian on a hot summer day, going to an important business meeting, decided to run into a coffee shop to drink his favorite cappuccino. The bartender immediately set to work, rushing to serve a regular visitor, but was displeased to find that milk - a necessary component for making a drink - had ended. However, the resourceful barista found a way out by opting to use ice cream instead of the traditional milk.

    The client liked the unusual drink with a great taste and enchanting aroma so much that since then he began to order it. Perhaps this legend explains the information that the mix, consisting of coffee and ice cream, was invented in Austria. Subsequently, the recipe for making a cold cocktail was adopted by the French, and they also gave it a name - glasse, which in French "glacé" means "frozen", "ice". By the way, coffee drinkers are so fond of the drink that even the popular Cies “Cold Gloss” paint tone is named after it, which gives the hair a luxurious shade of blond with exquisite ash tints.

    In the classic version, it is strong black coffee cooled to 10 ° C, to which cream or vanilla ice cream is added. The standard serving is 100 g, but true lovers of the drink prepare it in a much larger volume.

    It is believed that the ratio of black coffee to ice cream should be approximately 2:1, but in many recipes, the proportion of ice cream is more often 25% of the total volume of the drink. The basis of the drink is espresso or Turkish. In express recipes, even a soluble product is used.

    There are already more than 10 modern variations on the theme of glace. It is even served hot.

    The composition of the drink may include:

    • cream or milk;
    • alcohol;
    • liquor;
    • chocolate;
    • spices;
    • ice, etc.

    This different combination of products makes glassee similar to other coffee drinks, such as latte or Viennese coffee.

    Espresso - the right basis for glace

    The technological map "Black coffee with ice cream Glace" indicates the following proportions of products:

    • black coffee 75 g;
    • ice cream "Plombir" 33 g;
    • sugar to taste.

    Serving is carried out in glass goblets or wine glasses with a handle. First, chilled coffee is poured, and then a scoop of ice cream is carefully placed. The drink should be served immediately before the ice cream has dissolved. The calorie content of 100 g is 106 kcal.

    calories

    The drink belongs to dessert, has a high calorie content. The exact nutritional characteristics depend on the composition of the recipe.

    Classic coffee-glass without sugar, with 30 gr. ice cream and 2 teaspoons of syrup has a calorie content of approximately 110 kcal. Adding a sprinkle of chocolate and nuts increases the calorie content to 150-160 kcal.

    Egg yolk coffee glaze has a calorie content of about 250 kcal, sprinkling and decorations will raise this figure to 300 kcal.

    Coffee glass with alcohol has a calorie content of about 120 kcal in a 75 ml serving.

    Each spoonful of sugar increases the calorie content of coffee glass by 20 kcal.

    Proper serving

    The drink belongs to dessert, so it is served in a tall glass goblet with a straw.

    You can use an Irish glass or any tall glass made of glass.

    It is allowed to serve coffee-glace in a narrow tall cup, for example, in a latte cup.

    A glass or cup is placed on a saucer, a teaspoon is placed next to it.

    Coffee glass with alcohol is served in glasses for short drinks (small volume cocktails) with a short straw.

    What is the difference between glasse and latte?

    These two coffee drinks are often confused, but sophisticated coffee lovers are well aware of the difference between glace and latte. Both of these cocktails have a milder taste compared to traditional coffee, are prepared on the basis of double espresso, contain less caffeine, which is more gentle on the body, but the ingredients in the recipes are different.

    Latte means “milk” in Italian, and this product is the main component that affects the taste of a coffee cocktail. To prepare a drink, you need a coffee maker equipped with a device that whips milk into a strong foam, the ratio to coffee is 2:6. Sugar is added to the composition to taste.

    To prepare the glass, as mentioned earlier, a recipe with ice cream (2 scoops) is used.

    By the way, it is not uncommon for glass to be confused with, but the latter's recipe includes whipped cream and strong Irish whiskey.

    The first coffees were prepared in France. French gourmets and guests of the country really liked this drink. This version of the preparation of a coffee drink is still popular today. Glace is a Latin word that translates as ice. Indeed, this coffee drink is refreshing and helps to overcome thirst in the summer heat.

    The taste of glasse coffee will be appreciated by those who like to drink a cup of this invigorating aromatic drink in the morning. It is gentle and pleasant, refined. It is usually prepared from natural ground coffee. But it can also be made from soluble granules. Alcohol is added to the drink at will and quite a bit, only for flavor. The essential ingredient is ice cream. It is recommended to use something without various additives (jam, nuts). Ideally, a high-quality and tasty ice cream is suitable. Although, popsicle is often used for glace. The coffee is served in a glasse in a special way. For preparation and serving, special cups-glasses with handles are needed, the volume of which is about 300 ml. They are put on a plate with a small spoon.

    Ingredients

    • Coffee ready - 200 ml
    • Ice cream - 50-70 g
    • Sugar - to taste
    • Cognac or liquor - 1 tsp

    Visually, the drink resembles a latte or Viennese coffee, but, unlike them, it is served exclusively cold. In coffee shops, it is poured into glass cups, glasses or stemmed stemmed glasses, often with a cocktail cherry on top, for greater effect. You can also prepare a drink at home.

    The classic glasee coffee recipe includes espresso brewed from natural beans and a few scoops of ice cream. Naturally, like any other popular drink, there are all sorts of variations with the addition of liquor, egg yolk, whipped cream and spices. Today I'm going to make a glaze with creamy ice cream. The recipe with a photo will help you easily recreate the popular coffee "cocktail" with sundae in your kitchen. But keep in mind that many factors affect the final taste: the type of grain you use, as well as its degree of roasting and grinding, whether you cook with or without sugar, what kind of ice cream you add. Even the time that a ready-made coffee-glace will stand in anticipation of a sample will directly affect its taste. So don't be surprised if each time you get a slightly different drink, feel free to experiment with additives and surprise your guests with new flavors!

    Total prep time: 20 minutes / Prep time: 10 minutes / Yield: 2 servings

    Ingredients

    • finely ground natural coffee 3 tsp.
    • water 250 ml
    • sugar 1 tsp optional
    • ice cream 100-120 g
    • ground cinnamon 1 tbsp. optional
    • grated chocolate, cinnamon or cocoa for garnish

      Preparation begins with the fact that you must first grind the coffee beans into powder. It is better, of course, to do it yourself, and not to buy a finished product, then the taste and aroma of the drink will be more saturated. If this is not possible, then choose coffee of the finest grinding, preferably Arabica.

      I pour 3 teaspoons of freshly ground coffee into the Turk - for two servings. Usually calculated as follows: 1 teaspoon for each cup, plus 1 extra spoon for strength. If there are no Turks, you can brew espresso in any way available to you, for example, in a coffee maker or in a French press. Just do not use instant coffee, the taste will be completely different!

      For flavor, I add a pinch of ground cinnamon. I immediately put sugar - here, focus solely on your taste, but do not forget that ice cream will still be used. Adding 1 teaspoon of coffee will make it slightly sweet.

      I pour cold water into the Turk - drinking, preferably spring or purified, because the taste of water will directly affect the quality of the coffee drink. Stir thoroughly with a spoon and put the container on the stove. I expose the smallest fire. As soon as the foam begins to rise, I immediately remove the Turk from the stove, not allowing the drink to boil. After a minute, I return the Turk to the burner, to the minimum fire and repeat the procedure, thus both the taste and aroma of the coffee bean will be revealed to the maximum extent.

      I completely cool the drink in a Turk (the longer it infuses, the stronger the coffee will turn out, you can put it in the refrigerator). Then I filter it through a fine sieve to remove all the sediment, and pour it into cups or portioned glasses.

      On top of a slide, I put a portion of ice cream in each container - 3-4 balls per cup. Vanilla or cream ice cream, creme brulee or ice cream with condensed milk will do. It is very important to use a quality product, without palm oil.

      For decoration, grated chocolate, ground cinnamon or cocoa powder are traditionally used, a very tasty combination with crushed nuts, slightly dried in a dry frying pan. The drink can be served in cups or glasses, with teaspoons or cocktail tubes.

    That's all, our coffee at home is ready. The dessert drink is very tasty, creamy, tender and cool. Happy coffee drinking!
