Borscht recipe for children step by step with photos. Can a one-year-old child eat borscht: benefits and harms? From the same series

(Age: from 1 year)

I'm glad to see you on my website - we cook for children with imagination. I see that the section is still leading in the survey, so today I am updating it. As always, I am posting a step-by-step children's recipe - borscht for a child.

I am preparing lean borscht for my daughters, and it is absolutely not inferior in taste to borscht in broth. As I already wrote, it is better not to use saturated broths for children under 3 years of age when cooking.

What products do I use to prepare children's borscht, the same as for adult borscht? But it turns out to be naturally more dietary. If your child does not like lean borscht without meat, it is better to boil the meat separately and add it to the already cooked borscht. This way we will make borscht that is more nutritious, but also very healthy. Due to the fact that borscht contains a very large amount of vegetables, it is a source of useful nutrients; it contains large quantities of mineral salts, plant fibers and healthy organic acids.

It contains beets, which are so useful with biologically active substances, supplemented with such an important source of ascorbic acid - sweet pepper, carrots enrich the dish with carotenes. But borscht for a child also contains onions, potatoes, tomatoes, dill, and cabbage.

So, when can you give your child borscht? Prepared according to this recipe borscht for children can be given from one year onwards. From the age of 3 you can cook borscht using a second broth. You can also start preparing borscht for children under one year old, from about 10 months, but without cabbage, sour cream and no salt, and mash a little with a fork, also make sure that there is no reaction to the tomato. Now how to make borscht.

Borscht for a child - recipe.

To prepare borscht for a child, you will need:

1. 1 beet;

2. 1 onion;

3. 1 carrot;

4. 1 tomato;

5. 2 potatoes;

6. 100 g. white cabbage;

7. 1 sweet pepper;

8. dill;

9. vegetable oil, or sour cream;

Borsch step by step recipe

1. Wash and peel the onions. Cut into fine cubes. Pour baby water into the pan (1 - 1.2 liters). Bring to a boil. Place chopped onion in boiling water. We cook, of course, with the lid closed to preserve maximum vitamins.

2. Wash and peel the potatoes. Cut into small cubes.

3. Wash and peel the carrots, three on a coarse grater.

4. Same thing with beets.

5. Wash the tomato and scald it with boiling water to remove the skin. We cut it into cubes.

6. Finely chop the cabbage.

7. About 10 minutes after the onion, add potatoes to it. As soon as the potatoes are almost ready, after about 10 - 15 minutes add the grated beets and carrots.

8. As soon as it boils, add the tomato and cabbage. If your child doesn’t like cabbage in borscht, you don’t have to put it in. Cook for another 10 minutes.

9. In the summer, be sure to add sweet peppers to your child’s borscht. Although in winter I try to freeze and add. That is, wash the sweet pepper, peel it and cut it into cubes. Add to the borscht 3-4 minutes before the end of cooking.

Wash some dill, cut it, put it in the borscht, add salt and mix. Bring the borscht to a boil and remove from heat.

I didn't expect this situation at all. And such an attitude neither from my son nor from my husband. My son, almost an adult, 11th grade, said that he and his classmates approach the younger ones in the dining room and ask (this is in his words): “Are you going to eat?” If they say no, then they take their food.

I’m just in shock, I couldn’t convey to him that they are afraid of you, healthy foreheads, that’s why they give it away, that this is a bad example for these same kids, that this is low. His position: “they are not afraid, not everyone says that they will not, but why should food go to waste?” I always give money for food, and I also have pocket money.

The husband (not his son’s father) called him terrible names, downright humiliated him. I understand that in essence my husband is right, but I could have chosen my words. What should I do now? I will not be able to forget these words. How can we all continue to live together? Yesterday I cried all evening.

I couldn't stand it!!!
chatty topic, I was interested:
a man should!? to a beloved/unloved woman, anything for love and affection/comfort, borscht/raising a child, etc., in the form of material benefits?
We're not talking about salary, but about cars, apartments, diamonds/tiaras, a couple of lambs?
or, after all, not all men have and squeeze dry?
or am I just a loser, because... I didn’t need money from the guy in the first place.......
Thank you for your honest answers))) can you briefly say: should/shouldn’t

Listen, I don’t understand, but just in case, I’ll ask anonymously, otherwise you never know.

Why do healthy lifestyle supporters always talk about mayonnaise with such hatred?? It's, well, just butter and mustard, to put it bluntly. Just sunflower oil! They are now discussing all sorts of salads for the New Year, but oh well. And everywhere I hear: ahhh, not mayonnaise! Olivier without mayonnaise, vegetable salad without mayonnaise, potatoes with meat baked in the oven NEVER with mayonnaise, otherwise death.

Why?! At the same time, they eat sausage, which from my point of view is much more harmful, and drink beer, which is not made with real malt, but who knows what, and fry the meat until it charcoals, but not a drop of mayonnaise!! Why did he become such an enemy? I think it's very tasty. And in childhood, a sandwich made of black bread with mayonnaise was mmm yummy.

I have been divorced for 4 years, my daughter is 6 years old. After the divorce I had to return to my parents, they helped with my daughter, I worked a lot. Then my dad died. And so the three of us were left - me, my daughter and my mother. Sometimes I could go somewhere, shopping, to see a friend, etc., and my mother didn’t mind sitting with her daughter at this time, she herself suggested that I rest.

Six months ago I started communicating with a man. More precisely, they knew each other before, and a romantic relationship began. And then something began to happen to my mother when she found out. Constant conversations on the topic - why do you need this, take care of the child and not hang around with men (this despite the fact that there were no men after the divorce, and we only meet a couple of times a week, the rest of the time I’m either at work or with my daughter ). And she flatly refuses to stay with the child if I’m not at work. Those. if he understands that I can go on a date right away, I won’t stay with the child, although I’m not busy with anything. And long tedious lectures on the topic of how I’m not ashamed to hang around.

I don’t understand what’s wrong with my mother; she won’t talk. I don't understand her negative reaction. And I don’t understand how to build a personal life then, what to do.
Who can tell me what?

I'm tired.
My husband has been seriously ill for a long time, more than a year. Since September he has no longer worked, at home, on disability. For the last two months he has been walking only within the apartment. During the last foray into the street back to the 5th floor, I dragged him on myself. It’s clear that it’s being treated, we’re not just waiting for weather by the sea, but it’s only getting worse.

The character of the patient under such circumstances rarely improves, to put it mildly. It is clear that everything is on me. In addition to work, household chores, worries about him, many things in which he is no longer an assistant, I am running around fighting with authorities who lose documents, do not transfer data for months, etc., etc. (yes, I defeated them, but how much effort, time and nerves it takes!) You can’t describe everything, only the essential is remembered, and life is in everyday life.

Now he is in his second week in the hospital. Yesterday after work, after an hour in traffic jams, I ran to the hospital - he starts a conversation, according to his habit, then he doesn’t hear, then he pretends, then he grimaces, then he interrupts, then he doesn’t listen to the end. But I don’t have the energy and time for this. She spat, left him the clean things, took the dirty ones and ran home.

I have a teenage daughter at home. I instructed her to do two very small things for my arrival - once again she “forgot.” I couldn’t stand it, I yelled and didn’t lift the restriction on my phone. So she babbled at me and was indignant all evening (the bawl was all like dad).

At eight - you can check the clock - mom always calls. Around the thousandth circle there are the same conversations - like her husband, what can be done with him, where she saw what discounts and what she bought on sale. But yesterday, knowing that I would no longer be capable of this, I called her while leaving the hospital and said: “I’m tired today and out of sorts, don’t call me today, we’ll talk tomorrow.” But, of course, a huge thank you to my parents - when they go grocery shopping on the weekend, they buy a lot for two families and deliver it to me, I just pay.

I went to bed at 10, but couldn’t fall asleep until half past one. Even though I drank valerian. I’ll be relaxing at work (and I’ve also had a new job since September, somehow I don’t want to relax).

And on top of that, I'm starting to catch a cold. I forgot my throat suckers at home. Complete apchhi, damn it.
Ugh. The steam was released. I go to work. And something was completely disgusting to me.

Classic red borscht with beets is the heritage of the Slavic peoples. Basically, this is a traditional Ukrainian dish, but neighboring peoples also prepare it in different variations. Therefore, from an early age, in kindergartens, at school and, of course, at home, we cannot imagine life without aromatic, rich-tasting borscht with beets. But for children from 1 year to about 2.5 years old, you need to cook borscht in a completely different way than if you cooked it for older children or adults. Firstly, when preparing such borscht, vegetables cannot be fried, they must be stewed. Secondly, babies still have very few teeth, so the vegetables for borscht need to be finely chopped or grated on a coarse grater. Broth for children's borscht should not be greasy. In our recipe, we took into account all the needs of small children from 1 to 2.5 years old, so that it would be tasty and pleasant for them to eat, and you, as a mother, would understand that your child is eating healthy, freshly prepared food.

At what age can a child be given borscht?

Borscht is a favorite first course for many people in our country. It is tasty and healthy, so many mothers are interested in when they can give this dish to their child and how to cook it for the children's menu.

The basis of borscht is various vegetables, and there are quite a lot of recipe options for such a traditional Slavic dish. Some cook it in meat broth, others in bone broth, and still others without adding meat at all. The constant ingredients are beets, potatoes, and carrots. Tomatoes, peppers, onions, cabbage and other products are also added to it.

  • It contains many vitamins, organic acids and mineral salts. This product can be a source of carotenoids, B vitamins, ascorbic acid, iodine, iron, as well as amino acids and antioxidants.
  • This nutritious dish stimulates the intestines due to its fairly high fiber content. Its use will help prevent or eliminate constipation.
  • Beetroot, which is the main ingredient, has a hepatoprotective effect, as well as the ability to reduce nervous excitability and strengthen blood vessels. In addition, this root vegetable stimulates hematopoiesis and prevents the development of diabetes.
  • Thanks to the consumption of borscht, various toxic substances, such as pesticides, nitrates and heavy metals, are removed from the body.

Borscht can become a harmful product if the recommendations for its preparation in childhood, as well as the rules for storing such a product, are violated. This first course is contraindicated if you are intolerant to any of its components, for example, if you are allergic to beets (it is a very allergenic vegetable). This dish should also not be consumed if you have pancreatitis or diarrhea.

Doctors recommend introducing a child to beets at 8-9 months. If your baby has a tendency to constipation, this root vegetable can be included in the complementary feeding menu a little earlier, for example, at 7 months. For children prone to allergies, beets are added to the diet later, for example, at 10 months or a year.

However, it is recommended to choose beet puree as the first beet dish given to a child, adding it to other vegetables in an amount of no more than 1/3 of the total volume of the vegetable dish. You should try borscht for the first time no earlier than the baby turns 1 year old.

To rule out a child’s allergy to beets, you should start with beet puree. If there is no negative reaction to the root vegetable, you can introduce borscht into the diet

In addition, there are also such restrictions:

  • To prepare such a dish, you should take only those products that the baby has already tried.
  • The use of meat broth during cooking is acceptable, but it should be freed from fat as much as possible.
  • If a child is preparing borscht without meat broth, then separately boiled meat can be added to the finished dish.
  • Bone broth should not be used when preparing dishes for children under 3 years of age.
  • It is recommended to add sour cream no earlier than 1.5-2 years.

Traditionally, the dish is cooked in a saucepan, adding ingredients taking into account the duration of their boiling. A multicooker can also be used for cooking.

We offer you a recipe for borscht that a one-year-old child can eat.

Take:

  • One small beet.
  • One small onion.
  • One medium carrot.
  • One small tomato.
  • Two medium potatoes.
  • 100 grams of shredded white cabbage.
  • A pinch of salt.
  • Greenery.

Prepare borscht like this:

  1. Rinse all vegetables thoroughly.
  2. Peel the onion and cut into small cubes.
  3. Pour about 1 liter of water into a saucepan and bring to a boil.
  4. Place the onion in boiling water and cook, covering with a lid.
  5. Peel the potatoes and cut into small cubes.
  6. Add it to the water where the onion has been boiling for 10 minutes.
  7. Grate the peeled carrots and beets on a coarse grater.
  8. Place the grated vegetables in the water with the potatoes and onions about 10-15 minutes after adding the potatoes.
  9. Scald the tomato and remove the skin, then cut it into cubes.
  10. Add chopped tomato and shredded cabbage.
  11. Cook for another 10 minutes, then add salt, add herbs and remove from heat.

How to cook children's borscht?

Borscht is the first dish that occupies an important place in the people's diet. The favorite dish of the Eastern Slavs is mainly prepared in meat broth with the addition of vegetables. This type of soup is healthy and tasty. The human body who consumes this dish receives many nutrients.

But is borscht so healthy?

Mothers should know the nuances of its preparation and storage before introducing it to their kids.

The main ingredients of borscht are potatoes, beets, carrots and cabbage. Onions, sweet and bitter peppers, tomatoes, beans and other products are often added to this soup. Therefore, it contains a sea of vitamins.

  1. The presence of vitamins, mineral salts, organic acids (vitamins B, C and K, folic and ascorbic acids, amino acids, etc.).
  2. Helps stimulate intestinal function and cleanses it. Eliminates or prevents constipation.
  3. Has a beneficial effect on the functioning of the liver, heart and blood vessels.
  4. Reduces nervous excitability and strengthens blood vessels.
  5. Stimulates hematopoiesis.
  6. Removes various toxic substances from the body.
  7. Indicated for use for the prevention of diabetes.

Doctors recommend preparing this national Slavic dish for children after one year of age. Many mothers do not want to deprive their child of a food filled with many nutrients. Therefore, people often wonder whether children under 1 year old can prepare borscht according to a different recipe.

Before feeding children healthy soup, you need to learn about the features of its preparation, as well as restrictions on use.

  1. Red soup for children under 1 year of age and older should include products that do not cause allergies in the child.
  2. The meat broth in which it is planned to cook is freed from fat as much as possible.
  3. Small children should not cook borscht with bone broth.
  4. It is not advisable to add sour cream to the dish.

Before cooking soup with vegetables for the baby, mothers make sure that he does not have intolerance to various foods. To do this, the little child is introduced to the components of the dish earlier:

For breastfed babies, cabbage is introduced into the diet after 6 months. With artificial nutrition, a new product is added from 4-5 months;

  • acquaintance with beets occurs at 8-9 months of age. Vegetables can be added to the complementary feeding menu from 7 months if the child is prone to constipation;
  • carrots are introduced into the diet at 5-6 months;
  • the child tries potatoes at 4.5 months;
  • at 7 months, meat is introduced into the baby’s diet;
  • no earlier than 8 months, the child is given boiled onions;
  • Tomatoes in the form of tomato juice are given to children at 10 months. Vegetables of yellow and orange varieties are given per year. After them, red tomatoes scalded with boiling water and without peel are introduced into complementary feeding. A three-year-old child is allowed to eat any tomatoes.

For children aged 10 months, borscht is prepared with those root vegetables whose consumption did not cause adverse reactions. If the mother has previously noticed an allergy to cabbage or beets, then the dish is prepared without these vegetables. True, such a soup can hardly be called a full-fledged borscht.

Traditional borscht is cooked for a child when the rest of the ingredients included in the dish can be given.

With age, the list of ingredients gradually expands. It is not recommended to add bell pepper before 2 years of age; children are introduced to it from 1.5 years old and quite carefully.

But from 1.5 years old, you can supplement this soup with a spoonful of sour cream.

The children prepare borscht from those root vegetables that they have grown to love. Their first borscht consists of the following products:

  • potato;
  • cabbage;
  • carrot;
  • meat.

The Internet surprises with a variety of recipes with photos of borscht for one-year-old children. They differ in the number of ingredients, cutting method, and cooking order, but they have general cooking rules.

When preparing a national dish for a one-year-old child, special recommendations are followed:

  • all vegetables are washed and doused with boiling water;
  • After thorough peeling, they try to cut the products finely. To prepare borscht for toothless children, it is recommended to grate all the vegetables;
  • Vegetables must be completely boiled.

Preparing the first borscht

  1. Pour water (about 1 liter) into the prepared saucepan and wait for it to boil.
  2. Before the water boils, peel the potatoes and cut into small cubes.
  3. When the water has reached a boil, place the potatoes in it.
  4. After 15 minutes, add the finely grated carrots.
  5. Finely chop the cabbage and add it to the pan when the water boils again (after about 5-10 minutes).
  6. When the root vegetables are completely cooked, add the previously cooked meat, cut into small cubes.
  7. Cook for about 10 more minutes.

It is advisable not to add salt or pepper to the borscht until it is a year old. It is advisable to prepare it in small quantities. Although you can store borscht in the refrigerator for a maximum of 2 days, the reheated dish loses some of its vitamins.

When children get older, borscht is prepared according to the above recipe, supplemented with the following products:

  • chopped onion is placed in boiling water first, and after 10 minutes potatoes are added;
  • grate the beets on a coarse grater and add them with carrots;
  • diced tomato is placed in borscht with cabbage;
  • sweet peppers cut into small pieces are added after the cabbage with tomatoes a few minutes before the end of cooking;
  • It is permissible to cook with 2 meat broths in 1 year. But, if, after introducing meat into complementary foods, the baby did not experience allergic reactions, the child is healthy, and has no problems with the liver or kidneys, then they begin preparing soups with meat broth at 9-10 months. And after 3 years, bone broth can be used in preparing liquid dishes;
  • The dish for children who are one year old is salted and supplemented with dill.

One-year-old children are not allowed to fry vegetables in oil. But since frying can harm even an adult’s body, the question of at what age children should be given borscht with frying is open. After all, it is also better for adults to eat soups prepared without frying foods. Therefore, when a baby appears, it’s worth thinking about revising your usual cooking standards and starting to use healthy recipes not only for baby food, but also for the common table.

Borscht is a unique dish. It contains so many useful substances that no other product can replace it. Its composition itself is very diverse, therefore, each vegetable contains useful substances, vitamins unique to it, and has a beneficial effect on the body.
For a child, borscht is indispensable, since not everyone can eat its components separately. Another important advantage of borscht is the broth. Even if your picky eater does not agree to eat a piece of meat, he will still get all the necessary nutrients from the broth. Thus, borscht cooked in meat broth is a hearty dish that is perfectly absorbed by the child’s body.

In order to cook delicious borscht, we will need:

  • 2 medium size potatoes,
  • cabbage,
  • carrot,
  • greenery,
  • olive oil,
  • tomato paste,
  • beets, which should be boiled in advance.

Preparing children's borscht:

1. Peel the potatoes and cut them into small cubes.

2. Cook the beets until tender and finely grate them. If your child is allergic to this product, you can exclude it from the recipe.

3. Peel the carrots on a fine grater and also grate them thoroughly.

4. Wash the cabbage, carefully chop it or cut it with a special knife.

5. Peel the onion, rinse and cut it very finely so that it cooks better and faster.

6. When the salted water has boiled, add the potatoes and cook for 10 minutes.

7. Add carrots, beets, onions and cabbage. Cook until done. Don't forget to add a little tomato paste. For my baby, I froze tomatoes, chopped using a blender, for the winter. It's useful and economical.

8. At the end of cooking, add finely chopped parsley and two tablespoons of olive oil.

9. If we cook borscht with broth, then first we need to boil the meat. To do this, put the meat in boiling water, cook for about 10–15 minutes, drain the water, and then fill the meat with clean water, preferably filtered, and then also cook until it is cooked. This dietary broth will be free of harmful substances and is well suited for children's menus.

Vitamin borscht is ready! Its main advantage is that the vegetables are boiled, but not fried. For a baby who does not know how to chew food well, it is better to first grind the borscht in a blender. For older children, it is better to offer regular borscht.

Delicious and appetizing borscht on your table. It's time to pamper your child with a healthy homemade product!

  5. Simmer the vegetables, covering the pan with a lid, for 30 minutes, while monitoring the process so that the beets do not start to fry and burn.
  6. Next, prepare the remaining vegetables. Cut white cabbage into small strips.
  7. Finely chop the onion as well.
  8. Grate, or if you can, cut the carrots into small strips.
  9. So, first of all, add chopped cabbage, carrots and onions to the boiling broth. These vegetables take longer to cook than potatoes. Boil them in broth until half cooked.
  10. Add sugar and salt to your taste.
  11. Grate the peeled potatoes on a coarse grater.
  12. 10 minutes before the dish is ready, add chopped potatoes.
  13. Then add the stewed beets and tomatoes. And cook the borscht for another 10 minutes.

This borscht is recommended, as we have already mentioned, for the youngest children, starting from 1 year old, but this also means that it can be served to everyone, including even adults. Considering the age of your children, vegetables can be chopped with a knife rather than grated. Also, the meat from which you made the broth can be chopped and added at the end of cooking the borscht.

Serve your kids delicious and healthy borscht, seasoned with sour cream. Offer them a slice of white bread. Bon appetit!
